The journey

A newer trail, and the best week-long trek in Nepal. It climbs a single forested ridge above the Modi Khola and comes out on open high pasture directly under Machapuchare — close enough that the fishtail summit fills the view from camp.

    A short drive, then a climb into moss-hung rhododendron forest along the ridge.
